Talk about the helicobacter pylori bacterium.

It is said that over 50% of Koreans are infected with the helicobacter pylori bacterium, or H. pylori. The infection gives rise to various stomach issues such as indigestion, gastritis, and stomach cancer. An H. pylori infection is usually discovered during an upper endoscopy exam. If you test positive for H. pylori, you will probably get treated for it, even if there are no symptoms.

The most common treatment consists of medicine for gastric acid suppression and antibiotics. Patients usually take medication for one or two weeks. They have to take a lot of medicine twice a day, so it's literally a hard pill to swallow. The antibiotics can cause a patient to have the runs. Take probiotics such as lactobacillus during treatment can also be helpful.

Even after the difficult treatment runs its course, you could easily get re-infected. When that happens, different types of antibiotics are used for treatment.
