In Korea, there are many seasonal foods. Some foods are eaten mostly in the summertime. Naengmyeon, or cold noodles in broth with a thin layer of ice, and noodles in cold bean soup called kongguksu are some summer delicacies. Cold buckwheat noodles are also a summer specialty. There are some restaurants that have temporary menus just during the summer. Meanwhile, there are some people who fight fire with fire. They eat highly nutritious and hot foods to revive their low energy levels. on the dog days of summer, known as 'sambok,' people traditionally eat samgyetang, a chicken and ginseng soup. Cold drinks and ice cream also fly off the shelves. Cafes compete to release summer drink menus. Shaved ice called bingsu is also a summertime favorite. There are even chain restaurants that serve bingsu as their specialty. Visitors can enjoy bingsu in various flavors with their favorite toppings.
Do you have time to have lunch?
Sure. Should we get some samgyetang?
