I spent probably half an hour to an hour calling him and texting him, waiting for him to arrive, with absolutely no response - until finally, about an hour after he was supposed to arrive, he sent me a message saying that he couldn't make it. He'd slept in for too long and he couldn't be borthered going anymore. So I had gone an hour out of my way to wailt for him, and he just wasn't turning up anymore. It's incredibly annoying and incredibly frustrating, and it makes it very difficult for me to plan things for groups of friends when I know that one guy is just going to be late every single time.
As the world's best athletes compete in the Rio Olympic, many of the amateurs among them are having to watch what they say on social media. That's because of something called Rule 40, and International Olympic Committee regulation that restricts what those amateur athletes and the companies that sponsor them can say on Facebook and Twitter. It was a topic of conversation on today's HashtagVOA TV show, and host Michael Lipin is here to tell us how it went. "Michael, what's the deal with Rule 40?" "Hi, Jim. Well, that restriction that you mentioned applies to sports brands and other companies who sponsor Olympic athletes but are not themselves an official sponsor of the Olympic."
