Talk about phishing schemes

 

Phishing schemes are running rampant. They are a type of confidence scheme that uses illegally obtained personal information to steal money. Major types of phishing schemes include smishing and voice phishing.

Smishing is a con that uses text messages. When a victim taps on an internet link in a text message, malware is installed on their phone. Personal information or money is then released. Meanwhile, voice phishing uses phone calls to take advantage of the victim.

These phishing schemes use underhanded methods. They trick people by posing as family members, friends, or even official institutions. If you let your guard down, you can easily be duped by these schemes.

 

Phishing schemes are getting out of hand.

Yeah. The damages over the last ten years amount to over 2 trillion won.

Really? It's much more than I had thought.

It's important to never share personal information over the phone.

Of course. That's a big no-no.

It's safer just to ignore calls and text messages from unfamiliar numbers.
