The film industry in the post-pandemic world.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the future of movie theaters is uncertain. Many theaters have been closed for the most part since early last year. Even the few theaters that have opened have seen a sharp decline in ticket sales, as most movie-goers are unwilling to risk contracting COVID-19 just to watch a movie.

Movie studios have also had to take some tough decisions for over a year about the movies that were slated for release. Movies that took a risk and released in theaters have suffered disappointing box-office numbers. As a result, many others have been postphoned, while some have gone straight to streaming services.

Movie studios face a new dilemma. They must release their films and earn a profit, but safety is the number one priority right now. Releasing movies in theaters for the sake of ticket sales could result in a huge surge in COVID-19 cases. Streaming services provide a safer alternative for fans, but they are not without their drawbacks

Some film fans worry that releasing movies on streaming services might dull their impact. Some moveis were made to be watched on a TV or even a laptop. However, others can only be fully appreciated on the big screen. In some cases, studios are leaving it up to viewers by releasing movies simultaneously in theaters or online.
