Different regions of Korea each have their own local dialect. The dialect of Seoul, the capital city, is considered the standard language. People from different provinces speak in different accents. In some cases, the words that are used are completely different. Usually, this doesn't lead to problems in getting the point across. However, there are some words that cause confusion. In particular, the dialect of Jeju island is very distinct. When someone talks in a local dialect, it shows where he/she is from. Overall, despite the presencs of local dialects, Koreans don't have any trouble communication at all. Instead, the dialects make the Korean language more colorful.
