My least favorite household chore would have to be yardwork. I know some people really enjoy working on their yard, and I probably wouldn't mind either if I had the right tools. About two years ago, my wife and I moved to a house in Seoul with the tiniest patch of land. I didn't think too much of it until the first time I went to cut it. Since the land is small and we were only renting, we didn't want to spend money on a lawnmower. Thus, I have to cut the grass on my hand and knees using grass shears, or giant scissors.
The New Zealand-based study suggests that children who are exposed to microbial organisms at an early age through thumb-sucking or nail-biting are less likely to develop allegies. The study goes on to say that it finds children that engage in both of these habits are less likely to develop allegies to common triggers such as house dust mites, grass, cats, dogs, horses or airborne fungi. Researchers made their findings from data gathered by the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Study. The long-term study followed into adulthood about 1,000 participants who were born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1972 and 1973.
