Talk about platform workers.

As information technology continues to forge ahead, more and more services are being offered by way of digital platforms. The trend has picked up more speed during the COVID-19 situation.

As a result, more and more people are finding work in related fields. Delivery workers and substitute drivers who work through these platform services are called platform-mediated workers, or platform workers.

But people in this line of work aren't covered by the four major insurance schemes. Plus, they aren't protected by labor laws. If they get hurt on the job, they have to pay out of pocket for treatment.

The reality is that policies for platform workers are still sorely lacking. I hope that their working conditions will be improved in the future.

What is your son doing these days?

He's taking time off from school and working part-time.

What's his part-time job?

He is doing delivery work.

Does he have to ride a motorcycle to do that?

Yes. I am worried sick because he might get in an accident.
