Many people look for job security. That's why there is a stiff competition for Korea's civil service exams. Civil servants are guaranteed their jobs until retirement, and they are paid according to their pay grade. This means they can enjoy a very stable career.

There are 5th, 7th, and 9th level tests for administrative positions. There are also separate exams for fire department personnel, police officers, as well as teachers. You might be given credit if you have obtained certifications. In some cases, applicants are required to pass an exam in Korean history.

Hundreds of thousands of people do test prep for these civil service exams each year. Test applicants attend cram schools and prepare for a long time. They also take online courses, and form groups to prepare, as well.
