Documentaries on traveling are very popular in Korea. There are long-running programs on various channels. Public figures and experts on various topics visit travel destinations around the world. They show the viewers the major sights, and provide background information. They share their views on various aspects of traveling, like the local food. This way, viewers can indirectly experience what it's like to travel to many places. Many of us would like to escape from the daily grind and travel around the world. However, this is impossible. Travel documentaries are the next-best thing. Also, they are helpful when one does get around to traveling. That's why the shows are so popular.
