날까마귀 2017. 11. 24. 12:00

In Korea, the National Health Insurance Service is mandatory for everyone. Under this program, people receive deductions for a significant portion of medical treatment costs. They also get benefits when receiving health check-ups. However, many people also enroll in private health insurance because major surgeries and inpatient treatment are often not covered. Major afflictions are costly and have long recovery times, so private health insurance is very helpful. Of course, coverage is very different depending on the insurance plan, and insurance premiums can vary wildly. Taking everything into account, insurance costs are a burden since people must enroll in public and private health insurance. Also insurance claims are increasing because of excessive enrollment in insurance plans. This is one of the reason why medical cost in Korea are rising these days.

You look concerned. Is something wrong?

My mother needs surgery, but it's not covered by insurance.

Oh no! I hope it all works out.

We should've enrolled in a private insurance.
