Tips on how to name a child.
Expendant parents often struggle to select a name for the forthcoming bundle of joy. Some parents privately admit to baby-name regret and the shame it causes them. Some fall prey to passing trends, only to realize shortly after inking it on their child's birth cetificate that it was a mistake.
In some culture, parents end up with a name they hate because they feel pressured to uphold a family naming tradition. Most commonly, there are parents who just can't agree on a name, so one parent begrudgingly gives in to the other. Given that children will likely keep their name throughout their lives, this is no laughing matter.
There are a few ways to choose a name that you, your spouse, and your child will all be happy. First, you should avoid passing trends. A baby's name should stand the test of time. A name that sounds stylish now might sound completely ridiculous in 10 years. If you think this could be the case, you should probably pass on the name.
You should also look into what a name actually means. Some names actually have such negative meanings that they may make your jaw drop. You may decide that you love the sound of a name enough to overlook the meaning. It's a good idea to brainstorm possible nicknames to ensure there isn't some shocking possibility you're overlooking.
