In Korea, surprise crackdowns on DUI are common. The police set up roadblocks on major streets. They stop drivers, and make them blow into a breathalyzer. If a driver has been drinking, officers will check their blood alcohol level. They use a more fine-tuned device to do this. Depending on how drunk a person is, they are punished accordingly. They might have their licence suspended. In severe cases, their licence can be cancelled. Law-breakers also have to pay a hefty fine. Some people think punishments should be stepped up even more. The police are especially busy during special crackdown periods, like the end of the year.
