King Sejong the Great and Admiral Yi Sun-Shin are two of the most well-known historic figures in Korea. King Sejong is most famous for the invention of the Korean alphabet, Hangul. He also brought about scientific and institutional advancements in all corners of society. Korea was prosperous under his reign. Admiral Yi Sun-Shin was one of the greatest naval leaders of all time. He fought off a Japanese invasion. He led the way in modernizing the Korean navy. He was victorious in many battles. However, he was killed in action while fighting against the Japanese invaders. We commemorate King Sejong and admiral Yi Sun-Shin in may ways. Statues of them have been erected in Gwanhwamun Square in Seoul. Their faces are also on Korean bank notes and coins.

King Sejong the Great. His invention of Hangul was brilliant.
Same here. I personally admire his love for the people.
It's no surprise that he is on 10,000 won bank note.
