Talk about Korea's fish-shaped pastries.

Korean fish-shaped pastries are pastries made to look like carp. They are a top example of Korea's street food. Street vendors start to appear on the streets in late fall, and they are all over the place by wintertime.

Fish-shaped pastries are a snack that stirs up good old memories for us. I remember pooling money with my friends to buy them after school. We were drawn to street vendors' carts in alleyways and next to bus stops. It was hard to just pass them by.

The pastry fillings for the fish-shaped snacks are red bean paste or choux cream. You pick up the freshly made pastries and blow on them, as you eat them right on the spot. I often buy a few more for my family, and bring them home in a paper bag. Everyone always dives in when they see the bag of pastries, whether or not they've had dinner.

Have some fish-shaped pasties.

Oh, I am crazy about these.

I don't get sick of them, even after all these years.

That's right. I had them all the time when I was in school.

Everyone has fond memories like that.

These must be freshly made. They're still piping hot.
